Design, build and install of an Orangery extension

We have just completed the design, build and installation of an attractive orangery on a house in Telford. Our client was deliberating between moving home or adding this extension. They couldn’t be happier with their choice, with the new orangery now being the highlight of their home.

What is an orangery?

An orangery is usually constructed using stone or brick base walls and pillars, with large, glazed windows, and a solid perimeter roof with a central glazed lantern roof or skylight.

Historically used by wealthy Europeans for cultivating exotic plants, such as orange trees and other citrus fruits, an orangery can be used to extend a property creating a light and airy additional space. Their more solid construction provides better insulation, and a more consistent year-round temperature than that of a conservatory making it a very useful room.

A smooth operation from start to completion

This Orangery is constructed using low red brick support walls to match the rest of the house, and has beautiful oak doors, windows and roof lantern, all allowing light to flood in and create a beautiful, light and airy space.

Our team managed the project from start to finish, from the initial design and submitting planning permission, all the way through to final completion of the project.

Building projects can be notorious for running over, both in terms of deadline and spend. Controlling the works from start to finish allowed us to ensure the entire project ran smoothly, without extra costs, from the initial quotation right through to finishing on schedule. It is now  ready to furnish in time for Christmas.

We took care in every stage of the project, from the fine details in the design like the hidden gutter, and maximising the light through the doors with the gunstock design. During the construction stage we built the oak frames in our workshop in Somerset, ensuring they were faultless, before transporting and installing everything onsite in Telford.

The final built structure looks fantastic, and our client is over the moon with the end result.
