An above stairs wine cellar

An above stairs wine cellar

A client with a passion for collecting fine wine wanted a place to store his wines but did not have a cellar. So we created a ‘wine cellar’ in his kitchen. Not a dark cupboard where the bottles would be hidden away, but a beautiful glass fronted wooden wine store that would allow him to showcase his impressive collection of wines.

An above stairs wine cellar

Our skilled team designed and built a beautiful, temperature controlled above stairs ‘wine cellar’ where our client can both store the wines at the perfect temperature and show off his impressive collection.

The ‘wine cellar’ is built into an alcove in his elegant kitchen and has separate sections which are temperature controlled to suit the different types of wines.

Shelving with a difference

The lower section of the ‘wine cellar’ provides space for storing wine in wooden crates. Above this are further shelving sections where wines can be laid down and stored.

To enhance the design and create some visual interest we developed diagonal dividers which provide areas where bottles can be stacked. In addition there are wooden cradles that will hold individual bottles and a single angled shelf.

Form meets function

Tall glass doors allow the wine collection to be viewed and wines selected. Seals on the wooden wine store doors mean that when closed the unit mimics the conditions of an underground cellar. The end result is both visually pleasing and practical – and our client doesn’t even need to leave the room to get his wine from his cellar! Needless to say he is very pleased with the work we have done and it is quite a talking point with guests.
